The Photo was taken by the very talented photographer Chris Nash.
The cover features Shane Wearen on the bottom left, Sean Molloy on the bottom right and Matthew Devereux in the middle.

It’s also easy to forget that this photo was made before Photoshop and other digital photography techniques were being used. This was pure darkroom magic and skill with a scalpel.

Hello!!! I have stumbled across you whilst putting some of my treasured CDs onto my iPod. “Here’s One I made Earlier” was, for me, a seminal work. I was at University in London at the time and managed to get all my friends into The Pale – we all danced and sang like mad men at the front of the UCL Student Union gig! Happy days!!!
Like the new stuff too… But I read one blogger saying that ‘Proper Order’ represented your 8th or 9th release – is that right? How can I get hold of your back catalogue??? Please let me know! Take care

Thank you for the kind words Edd. I vividly remember that UCL gig (I was mixing the Front of House sound and triggering the MIDI backing tracks) and it was kicking.
Yes, there have been a few albums since 1994, unfortunately most are now unavailable. Some were short runs of about 1000 copies for the fan club and some were country specific. In 1997 for instance we released “Spudgun” which was a Denmark/Ireland/fan club only release.
You can get two records from 1969 Records – Contents of a Shipwreck (2007) and Proper Order (2009). You can probably still get Lonely Space Age (2004) from Psychonavigation Records and you might also be interested in Matthew’s solo record there too. It’s called “Tap Tap Tap” and it’s an electronic / experimental affair and it’s rather good.
We hope to put together a compilation record soon that would take in a lot of the material that is now unavailable – that will probably have to wait until the new year though. Hope you can wait that long

I’ve been after your “Here’s one we made earlier” album for years! I lost the copy I had and it’s driving me mad. Please oh please release those songs again for us to find our sanity

If I had €1 for every time I heard that . . .
LOL – We do hope to release some kind of retrospective compilation soon for sure.
But in the meantime, if you just can’t wait and you haven’t found it yet, why don’t you try the MySpace page for “Here’s One We Made Earlier”! We have most of those old tracks up there.
